St Andrews Leckie Parish
Fairtrade

St Anderws Leckie are pleased to support the Fairtrade initiative in our community. Peebles was the first town in the Borders to be officially designated a Fairtrade Zone, with many shops, businesses and organisations selling, using and promoting fair trade.

By buying Fairtrade goods we can support people in the developing world by ensuring that they receive a fair price for their produce and have the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.

Fairtrade guarantees:
• A living wage, no matter how low the world price for their product goes
• No child labour
• Safe working conditions
• Protection for the environment
• Rights for women
• Long-term contracts that allow producers to plan for the future
• A social premium that is often reinvested into projects that help build sustainable community infrastructure, like hospitals, schools and roads.

So please look out for Fairtrade products during your weekly shop or when you stop for a coffee.
